Vista Q&A with Jeff White

What drew you to wealth management?

I witnessed the effects of poor financial planning first-hand during the Great Recession (‘08-09). My father had worked for the same company for over 30 years and his retirement savings was heavily invested in his company’s stock because it was a “good deal” according to his colleagues. When the downturn hit the company went out of business and he lost over half his life savings. This led me to my passion for helping others manage their wealth.

What do you enjoy most about Vista?

The people. Vistans want to see each other succeed and always strive to do what’s best for clients. There are ample opportunities to learn and grow, and my Vista family supports me every step of the way.

What do you enjoy most about wealth management?

Wealth management aligns with my passion for helping others. I love getting to know each person and working with them to identify their goals, needs, and wants. Collaborating on financial solutions is my avenue for making a positive impact on people’s lives.

What do you love to do outside of work?

Cooking, traveling, reading, and everything outdoors.

Who in history (living or not) would you most want to meet?

Warren Buffett. He is able to simplify complex ideas into stories that everyone can relate to. More importantly, I admire his philanthropic spirit.

What’s the most influential book you’ve read and why?

Getting There: A Book of Mentors is a compilation of interviews with business leaders in diverse fields that share their stories of perseverance in the face of hardships. Their insights have given me perspective on true risks in life, failure vs. not trying.
