Vista Q&A with Jen Yacoube

What drew you to wealth management?

When I was in college, I took a part time job in a financial planning office. It was there that I discovered my passion to help clients plan for their future, advise on their portfolio, and help them achieve their financial goals. But the real catalyst was the advisor I worked for took me under his wing and mentored me. He is still considered part of my family to this day.

What do you feel is the biggest value Vista brings to its clients?

Vista clients benefit from our team-approach, which results in getting the very best thinking of the firm not just one advisor.

Which quality makes you best suited to provide wealth management services?

In a StrengthsFinder assessment, my top strength was Empathy. This strength speaks to being a good listener, being perceptive, and often being people’s confidant. These qualities are especially important when developing deep relationships with our clients.

How should people think about their wealth?

Wealth is not about having a lot of money. It’s about having the financial freedom to live your life as you choose.

What personal accomplishments are you proud of?

My husband and I purchased a beach house that we run as a short-term rental. Having only previous experience with long-term rentals, the management demand was completely different. I pride myself on being the one that set up all our systems, created a network of support in a remote area, and the one to manage the day to day.

Who in history (living or not) would you most want to meet?

The Beatles. They’re my all-time favorite band. My favorite album is Rubber Soul.

If you could play a character from a movie whom would it be?

Dottie Hinson of A League of Their Own. She was a trailblazer in women’s athletics. She was a leader, strategic and fiercely loyal.
